Whitewater rafting is one of Minnesota's hottest outdoor adventures. Our exciting 2½ hour trip is on the St. Louis River, just 15 miles south of Duluth. Jay Cooke State Park, the crown jewel of Minnesota's State Parks, is nearby. We provide high quality equipment, the bus ride back to our meeting place after your trip, and the friendliest, most experienced guides you'll ever meet. We
operate daily, May through September. Our trips fill up quickly, particularly
on Saturdays. So don't delay when making reservations, especially if your
group size is large or your date is important. Call us soon to guarantee
your date. Reservation payments are not due until 2 weeks prior to your
trip date (3 weeks with groups of 15 or more).
More challenging high water conditions, usually, but not always, occur
early in the season (wet suits are available). A delightful combination
of fun-filled rapids, with milder weather and river conditions, generally
occurs later in the season. Due to variable weather, river flows in any
season are always unpredictable. Feel free to call us if river flows are
important to you. Regardless of high or low water conditions, it’s
always a great time on the river with us.
Any combination of four, five or six people can share a raft. If yours
is a group of less than four people, we'll pair you up with others. Normally,
we can accommodate up to 52 persons per trip. Arrangements can be made
for larger groups.
Regardless
of previous experience (or lack of it), you belong on the river with us.
This trip is ideal for first-timers, whitewater veterans, individuals,
families and groups of all sizes. Our minimum age is 12 years old, no
exceptions. You must have good hearing and understand English very
well. You must be in good health, emotionally mature and intellectually
sharp. You cannot be pregnant, and you must be sober and drug free before
and during your trip. Anyone diagnosed with, or prescribed medication
for, ADHD, ADD, ASPERGER'S SYNDROME, AUTISM or any similar DEVELOPMENTAL
or COGNITIVE DISORDERS will be denied participation in our river rafting

annually, our worst accident has been a broken ankle. We're good at providing
you with the safest and most fun river trip possible. We invite you to

You
have two reservation options. You can reserve your places well in advance
of your Trip Date, secure in the knowledge that your places are guaranteed
by us, and that your payment is not due until two weeks before your trip
(within 2 weeks of your trip, your commitment is non-refundable and your
trip will not be rescheduled). Or, you can choose to call us at any time,
even at the last minute to see if we have room. We often, but not always,
have room for last minute additions or reservations. So, don't hesitate
to call us to secure any available places. If you have any questions,

FOR EVERYONE! No one is left behind...with Superior Whitewater’s Simultaneous Adventure Opportunity. Whitewater Rafting is suitable for almost everybody. But, of course there are exceptions. Those in your group not rafting with us, either by personal choice or by not meeting our minimum requirements, have an alternate adventure opportunity available - Flatwater Sea Kayaking on pristine Lake Carlton. Lake Carlton is right in our back yard and unspoiled - “like the boundary waters - only closer”. Our Sea Kayak Rentals (with or without a guide) are suitable for anyone and can be enjoyed at the same time others in your group are whitewater rafting with us. Your sea kayaking group can get casual, relax and explore magnificent, island studded, Lake Carlton. And, here comes the best part - since the whitewater section of the St Louis River flows into Lake Carlton, both the rafting and the sea kayaking groups meet on Lake Carlton and cross the lake together to end their paddling adventure. Our 1 or 2 person sea kayaks are the ideal alternative or an excellent addition to our exciting Whitewater Raft Tours. So, whether you and your friends choose either rafting or sea kayaking, or if your group chooses to split up (some rafting & others sea kayaking at the same time), or if you choose to enjoy both adventures at different times you’re going to love the opportunity for fun, adventure and excitement that we provide.
